A host of technical advances and design improvements make the Slimline XR range smart, with higher-performance and suitability for even more demanding applications.
The Slimline XR can now also access a range of useful remote supervision and operation functions. Thanks to the integration of the intelligent Tier Switch ITS *.*, the device connects easily to the ABB AbilityTM cloud platform. If fuses blow or temperatures or currents exceed set limits, alerts are sent to key personnel, making it easier to maintain continuous operations.

The higher efficiency was measured in tests that established the new Slimline XR low-voltage switch fuse disconnectors meet the latest edition of the IEC*****-* standard. A **.*% reduction in in power losses from ***W to ***W was recorded. This efficiency gain means lower heat losses, which translates into space savings for customers as more Slimline XR devices can now be installed in a single column.
The Slimline XR is among the smallest switch disconnector fuses with the lowest power losses available. It is one of the few horizontal switch disconnector fuses with the AC**A rating and is the only device where all active parts are silver-plated, with no bare copper. The greater durability means the Slimline XR now has a longer working life and is suitable for more extreme conditions: the number of operations has increased by ***% from *,*** to *,*** operations and the short circuit making capacity has increased by ***% from **kA to ***kA.
Pietro Esposto, Global Product Group Manager for ABB’s Switches & Fusegear business said, “The higher short circuit capacity provides higher levels of safety and protection, making the Slimline XR suitable for more demanding applications. A new electronic fuse monitoring function, suitable for ***V AC applications, further improves reliability in extreme conditions.”
ABB’s SlimLine XR range of switch disconnector fuses allow more outgoing feeders per switchboard, saving cubicle and floor space – and costs. The SlimLine XR range can be used in *-, *- and *-pole networks, with either DIN NH or BS fuses. Plug-in contacts make it fast, easy and safe to install, even under live voltage.
Longer Lifetime
The utilization category changed from AC**B to AC**A with a number of operations increased by ***% from **** up to ****. More operations mean longer life time and make the product suitable for more demanding applications.
